Passport to Connecticut Libraries
It’s time to return your Passports to Connecticut Libraries!
If you participated in this statewide library adventure, be sure to turn in your completed passport by May 11.
Passports can be returned to any participating Connecticut library—it doesn’t have to be the one where you picked it up.
Program Recap: Throughout the month of April, participants explored libraries across Connecticut, collecting stamps along the way. Visitors who collected at least 5 stamps are eligible to be entered into a prize drawing.
What Happens Next? After May 11, each library will hold a drawing to determine local winners. Participants will be entered based on the number of libraries they visited, with opportunities for both children and adults to win. From there, selected entries will move on to a statewide drawing, where additional prizes will be awarded later in June.
Important Dates
May 11 – Deadline to return passports
After May 11 – Local library drawings take place
June 12 – Statewide winners are selected
By June 19 – Winners are notified and prizes are mailed

News from Scotland's Poet Laureate, Susan Powers
On March 28, 2026, we were honored to have Susan share her lovely words of praise for Library Director, Mary Geragotelis on her retirement. In addition, she read 3 haiku written especially for the occasion.
Susan helped the library celebrate 20 years in our glorious building with a special poetry reading on Saturday, June 7, 2025 as part of our "birthday" celebration.
Over the summer in 2025, Susan worked with a young library patron to get her work published in the Orenaug Mountain Poetry Journal.
Stop by the library to see her published poem or visit the Children & Teen section of this website.
Susan has started an Open Mic night at the Community Center in Willimantic, CT. Additionally, she has had her work published in The Lost Love Anthology and has a collection of her poems in her latest book, Gather Your Chi. A copy of the book is at the library and available to check out.
Susan wrote and read her poem about addiction at a forum in August 2025 at the CT Legislative offices.
In 2026, Susan will be returning in the fall to the residency program at the Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She will be working with high school students from the area to create poetry based on the artwork at a local museum.
