Monthly Writing Group

Story Time at the library will begin on Thursday, September 5 at 10 a.m. and meet every Thursday for stories, games, crafts, and more.




Youth Writing Workshop
Tuesday September 10 at 3 p.m.

If there is enough interest, Susan Powers would like to continue the class on Tuesday, October 8 and Tuesday, October 12.




Art Journaling
Friday, September 6 from 5-7 p.m.
Wednesday, September 18 from 5-7 p.m.

This program is open to teens and adults and we meet the 1st Friday & the 3rd Wednesday of each month.  Feel free to attend either of both sessions.  No experience necessary.  You will receive a journal on your first session to be used for future classes.

Cookbook Swap

Saturday, September 14
from 10-noon

Do you have perfectly good cookbooks that you never use taking up space?  Why not swap them out for something new and inspirational?  Bring your gently used cookbooks in and select cookbooks that will be new to you!  
Light refreshment will be served.

Connecticut Author Trail

Join us and meet these CT authors at area libraries all summer long.  The Trail begins at the Janet Carlson Calvert Library in Franklin on July 9th with guest author Tessa Wegert.  And Guildford Smith Memorial Library will be hosting the Finale at the Garde Arts Center in New London on September 19th at 6:30 p.m. featuring bestselling author, Luanne Rice.  This is a change to the original programming.


Pick up your "passport" at the library and follow the trail!

Silent Reading

Friday, September 27 from 5:30-7 p.m.

Teens & Adults are welcome to join us.  We'll briefly share what we are currently reading and then spend time quietly enjoying our latest book.   

There is still time to celebrate Smokey the Bear's Birthday and join his Reading Challenge.  We have patches and prize packs for the readers that complete the challenge.
